North Texas Picks Up Winter Juniors Qualifer Haley Timmons of Nitro

The North Texas women’s swim team has gotten a commitment from Nitro Swimming’s Haley Timmons. A winter juniors-qualifying butterflier, Timmons would’ve been #3 in the 100 fly and #2 in the 200 fly for the Mean Green last season.

At last years Texas 6A Champs, Timmons placed 8th in the 100 fly, representing her high school Rouse HS in Leander, TX.

Timmons’ 200 fly in long course suggests she may have more to go in her yards 200, and she’s less than 3 seconds off of the Olympic Trials cut in that race.

At last year’s Conference USA Championships, she would’ve made B finals in both butterfly races, and wouldn’t have been terribly far off of sneaking into A finals. North Texas might slap her onto the medley relays, seeing as she still has a full year to improve and their medley butterflier, current sophomore Sydney Buckley, was 25.09 and 56.07 on the Mean Green’s relays. Timmons will have a great shot to make it onto both relays, though she’ll certainly have competition.

Timmons is not alone in North Texas’s class of 2020, as sprint freestyler/backstroker Rebekah Bradley of New Zealand verbally committed last month.
