Macie Beairsto of Springfield Aquatics and Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri has given her verbal commitment to Florida State University for the 2016-17 season.  Beairsto is a two-time state title-winning swimmer who overcame adversity in the process via battling a foot injury.  Two weeks prior to the state championships, Beairsto re-injured a previously torn metatarsal plate, but that didn’t stop the junior from clocking the winning times in both the 200y freestyle and 100y butterfly events.  Beairsto would go on to earn ‘Co-Swimmer of the Meet’ honors.

Of her accomplishment, Beairsto says “Ultimately I swam through the injury, but I couldn’t have won two state titles without the tremendous amount of love and support from coaches, teammates, friends, and family.”

Best times for Beairsto include:

Event SCY LCM
100 Freestyle 52.39 58.98
200 Freestyle 1:50.29 2:05.31
100 Butterfly 55.68 1:02.38
200 Butterfly 2:01.41 2:16.80

Beairsto is looking forward to becoming a Florida State Seminole, commenting “I knew by the first day of my official visit that Florida State was the school for me, the team and coaches were so welcoming and made me feel at home. I am so excited and can not wait to be a part of Nole Nation!!”
