Mauricio Fiol Declares in Public for the First Time Since Toronto

The event ‘Swimming for my truth’ was held last Saturday in the beach Los Yuyos in Lima, where the Peruvian swimmer Mauricio Fiol gave his first public interview since he lost the silver medal he won in the 200m fly in Toronto because of a positive result in a doping control in the Pan-American Games last July.

In the interview made for the local press, Fiol says that he will present to declare to FINA as soon as he gets an official invitation. He also admits that his nutritionist, Rubén Hinojosa, recommended him all the nutritional supplements he has been taking, but even if the nutritionist has been involved in a doping case with a professional Peruvian soccer player, Fool says that he doesn’t have any details or anything to do with that.

Fiol believes that if there is any way that the prohibited substance stanozolol got in his body, it was in the fabrication process of any supplement he got.

The Peruvian swimmer also regrets that the president of his country, Ollanta Humala, had given declarations against him without information, even if he retracted from them later and offered help to the athlete.

Mauricio Fiol criticized that the sport organisms in Peru didn’t react in time and left the swimmer alone for his defense.
