St. Francis Sets Four Pool Records in Loss at Mount St. Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, Md. – The Saint Francis swimming team set four pool records on Saturday, but fell 158-104 at Mount St. Mary’s. The Red Flash is now 5-4 overall and 1-1 in NEC meets.The Mountaineers are now 2-0 in conference meets.

Sophomore Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) continued a strong fall with a pool-record time of 2:07.33 in the 200-meter Freestyle. Lafferty added top-three finishes in the 50 Freestyle. with a time of 26.99. and 400-meter Freestyle, with a pace of 4:32.07.

Senior Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School) set a pool-record in the 100-meter Breaststroke, finishing in 1:14.96. Freshman Jessica Crumm (New Hampton, N.Y./Minisink Valley) placed second in the event with a pace of 1:16.59. Crumm also earned a third place finish in the 200 Breaststroke, with a pace of 2:51.63, while Rogers took third in the 100-meter Butterfly, with a time of 1:07.51.

In the 200 IM, freshman Marisa Daly (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) set a pool record, winning the event in 2:29.98.

Jessica Reilly picked up two top-three finishes, placing third in the 50-meter Freestyle, with a time of 27.54. and second in the 100-meter Freestyle, finishing in 1:01.22.

The Red Flash also set a pool record in the 400-meter Freestyle Relay as Lafferty, Jessica Reilly, Rogers and Natalie Tedjasukmana (Anaheim, Calif./Mater Dei) combined for a time of 4:04.27. SFU also placed third in the event as the team of Amanda Crnic (Conway, Ark./Conway), Mary Kish (Glendale, Ariz./Bourgade Catholic), Paige McLean (Bolton, Ontario/St. Michael Catholic Secondary) and Megan Reilly (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) finished in 4:13.51.

Saint Francis earned a second place finish in the 200-meter Freestyle Relay as Sara Dieterich (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot), Jessica Reilly, Rogers and Alicia Tiberino(Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) combined for a pace of 2:02.37.

SFU returns to action next weekend in an NEC meet at LIU Brooklyn. The Red Flash and Blackbirds will compete in an exhibition meet on Friday night at 6 p.m. before the official meet at1 p.m. on Saturday.
