Nicole Shek from Mount Laurel, New Jersey, has given her verbal commitment to Lehigh University beginning in the fall of 2016.
“I chose Lehigh for many reasons. I strongly feel I can reach my full potential at Lehigh University academically and athletically. The team immediately welcomed me with open arms and I got along with them and the coaches. I fell in love with everything that Lehigh has to offer and I can’t wait to be a mountain hawk!”
Shek attends Lenape High School where she holds the school records in the 200 IM and 100 back. Most recently, at the 2015 NJSIAA Meet of Champions, she came in 6th in the 200 IM and 8th in the 100 back. Shek also swims for the Jersey Wahoos under head coach John Carroll. She was a finalist at this summer’s NSCA Championships, placing 18th in the 50m back, and competed at the short course version of the meet last spring as well.
Shek’s best times are:
- 50 back- 26.88
- 100 back- 57.65
- 200 back- 2:04.27
- 100 fly- 56.81
- 200 IM- 2:07.88
- 400 IM- 4:31.02
- 50 free- 25.18
- 100 free- 53.29
- 200 free- 1:55.29
Shek would have just sqeaked into the “A” final of the 100 back at 2015 Patriot League Championships, and would have made the “B” final in the 100 fly, as well.
Shek’s older brother Steven is a freshman on the University of Notre Dame’s men’s team.
