For more commitment articles, be sure to check out SwimSwam’s College Recruiting channel.

Team Santa Monica’s Jamie Dodd has given her verbal commitment to San Jose State University beginning in the fall of 2016.

Dodd attends Beverly Hills High School, where she broke the school record in the first event of her freshman year. At last spring’s CIF-SS Division III Championships, she finished fourth in the 500 free and 16th in the 200 free.

Specializing in middle and long distance free, 200 fly and 400 IM, Dodd has also twice qualified for and competed in the USA Swimming Open Water 5K National Championships and has competed in various 10K events internationally.

“I’m so excited to swim with Coach Sage Hopkins and the entire San Jose State team. Although I’m from SoCal, they’re building something really special up North and I can’t wait to be a part of it. Hopefully, I’ll be able to contribute on many levels in the pool, while taking advantage of everything that this beautiful school has to offer.”

Dodd has been swimming with Team Santa Monica since age 7 and is a member of TSM’s National Group, training under current US National Team and Olympic Team Coach Dave Kelsheimer and alongside 2016 Olympian Jordan Wilimovsky.

Dodd’s best times are:

  SCY LCM
1000/800 free 10:18.81 9:04.08
1650/1500 free 17:21.52 17:32.46
500/400 free 5:02.33 4:28.59
400 IM 4:36.94 5:15.28
200 fly . 2:25.43

Dodd would have scored in the 1650 at 2015 Mountain West conference championships. She will join fellow commits Jenna Lloyd and Katie McIntee in the San Jose State University class of 2020.

Dear Jamie,
Congratulations as you look forward to an awesome college with an opportunity to continue your swimming talents. I have seen both your aunt and your mother swim in meets: Aunt Joanna as a teenager and your mom at college. And now you will be continuing the swimming tradition! We are so happy for you as you venture into college.

Jamie, Congrats on your choice… College swimming is fun, probably the most fun you have had…. Work hard for your team and team mates. Study hard because that is why you are going to college. You are now entering the world of college swimming and you will be able to stand along side of your aunt and your mom as an equal… It is special, savor every moment, lap and race… Leave nothing behind.
