Swim Job: Cherokee Town and Country Club seeks Head Coach

JOB DESCRIPTION

Cherokee Town and Country Club has an opening for a Head Swim Team Coach position. The Head Coach leads the Cherokee Swim Team which competes in the Country Club Swim League summer season. Swimmers range in age from 3 to 14 years old. This is a part-time position for the season which lasts April – July (including pre and post-season). Position also includes limited off-season responsibilities. Applicants MUST BE available on following dual meet dates: Tuesday, May 31st, Monday, June 6th, Monday, June 13th, Monday, June 20th, Monday June 27th, Wednesday July 6th and Thursday, July 7th.

Duties

  • Responsible for recruitment, scheduling and training of assistant and alumni coaches, working through the Family, Swim and Fitness Director.
  • Responsible for hands-on swimming skill development of all swim team participants.
  • Responsible for development, scheduling and conducting all aspects of swim team practices.
  • Responsible for coordinating various aspects of swim meets including, but not limited to, individual race participants, pre/post computer work, recording and posting of start times, and post-race ribbon distribution.
  • Attends and participates in swim team social events and swim coaches meetings.
  • Responsible for monitoring and adhering to the swim team budget. The Head Swim Coach will review the budget weekly with the Family, Swim and Fitness Director.
  • Responsible for timely communication with swim team parents per the Communication Strategy plan.
  • Responsible for development of team spirit, using various motivational techniques.
  • The Head Swim Coach may give private lessons. During the swim team season, lessons are not to exceed 12 private lessons per week, nor to interfere with coaching responsibilities in general.
  • Performs other duties as required by the Family, Swim and Fitness Director.

Qualifications

– Experience with Hy-Tek software
– Experience in coaching all ages and levels of swimmers.
– Good general knowledge of the sport of swimming.
– Ability to work with children of all ages. Teaching experience preferred.
– First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
