Hannah Bumgarner, who trains down the road at Mount Lebanon Aqua Club, will be swimming the next four years at the University of Pittsburgh. Bumgarner is primarily a freestyle swimmer who has improved rapidly over the last several years:

  • 100 freestyle- 52.84
  • 200 freestyle- 1:52.47
  • 50 freestyle- 24.75
  • 200 IM- 2:09.31

Bumgarner hadn’t even broken a minute in the 100 freestyle as of 2012, and her 200 freestyle has improved by four seconds in the last year. She also competed for Mount Lebanon High School. While her times still put her well back on Pitt’s roster and are far from what she will need to score at the ACC Championship, her improvement curve shows that she could be a factor for the Panthers in the near future.

Bumgarner is also from one of the best public high schools in Pennsylvania, and has grown up within ten miles on Pitt’s campus. Her commitment is powerful in that she feels the best opportunity for her is close to home at a place that she has had ample opportunity to check out.
