DAVIS, Calif. – Senior diver Lucy Lafranchise set a school record on the 1-meter board while freshman Solie Laughlin, sophomore Courtney Schultz and junior Kirsten Brand each captured two individual events, helping UC Davis take a 160-112 victory over Loyola Marymount in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women’s swimming and diving dual meet at Schaal Aquatics Center Saturday afternoon.

The Aggies even their dual record to 1-1.

Lafranchise scored a 291.305 on the low board, ahead of fellow senior Audrey DeNeffe’s 280.50, both surpassing DeNeffe’s previous school record of 278.55. Both marks also qualify for the NCAA Zone Championships, although that tandem already achieved that feat in Friday’s dual at Nevada. The UC Davis diving corps also hit a pair of zone-qualifying scores on the 3-meter board: junior Serena Yee went 285.15 while Lafranchise scored 280.12.

The UC Davis diving crew had two zone qualifiers on each board. Lafranchise won the 1-meter with a score of 291.305 while fellow senior Audrey DeNeffe finished in second at 280.50, eclipsing the 265.

Laughlin captured the 100-yard backstroke at 58.76 seconds, then went 2:09.66 in the 200 back to lead 1-2 finishes for the Aggies in each race. Schultz edged teammate Hailey Ferkowith a winning 1:05.31 in the 100 breaststroke, then took down the 100 free at 52.57. Brand won the 200 free at 1:54.43, more than a second faster than freshman Mia Facey’s 1:55.83, before prevailing in the 50 free with a 24.06 effort.

Fifth-year senior Cara Silvas enjoyed her first collegiate win, touching home in the 1,000 free in 10:34.99. Hilvy Cheung ran away with the 200 fly at 2:02.96, more than two full seconds faster than LMU’s Hannah Calton (2:05.12). Elise Roberts (200 breast), Lexy Troup (500 free) and Brittany Rojo (100 fly) also had the fastest times in their respective events, although UC Davis had conceded those events after mathematically clinching the team scoring.

Furthermore, the Aggie foursome of Aislinn Dresel, Madeline Benavidez, Rojo and Marrisa La Freniere won the 200 medley relay to start the meet. LMU officially won the 200 free relay, although the UC Davis team of Brand, Dresel, Kaitlin Leung and Cheung had the fastest time in exhibition at 1:37.66.

The Aggies continue their fall dual season at Utah and BYU on November 6 and 7.
