Miami Men Travel to Minneapolis, Ohio State

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University’s men’s swim and dive team is back in the pool for an action-filled weekend with a portion of the team traveling to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete in the Arena Grand Pro Series while another portion will swim against Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.

Miami returns after a 178-117 loss against the Purdue Boilermakers in their first road meet of the season on Oct. 30.

Six swimmers will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. for the Arena Pro Series. The travel team includes senior Evan Bader and junior Lucas Brock who both swam well against Purdue. Bader garnered first in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.81) and second in the 200-yard breaststroke. Brock claimed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.49). Miami will be competing against some big names in swimming including swimmers such as Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps. The meet is set to begin on Thursday, Nov. 12 and finish on Saturday, Nov. 14 in the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota. Events will begin with preliminaries at 9 a.m. and finals will start at 6 p.m. that evening.

The rest of the RedHawks are set to compete at Ohio State in the McCorkle Natatorium on Friday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. Senior Christopher Dieter returns to the pool this weekend after his strong performance against Purdue with his second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.95). Also swimming at Ohio State this weekend is sophomore Ross Rybakowicz, who took first in the 200-yard IM (1:59.58) against the Boilermakers. The last time Miami took on Ohio State in dual meet competition was two years ago in a non-scoring relay meet in the Nixon Aquatic Center.

Looking ahead, the RedHawks are off until the Miami Invitational where Miami will host a number of teams for a three-day competition beginning Dec. 3 in the Nixon Aquatic Center.
