CWPA Releases Men’s Varsity Week 10 Polls

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of California-Los Angeles, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and Brown University retain the No. 1 positions as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2015 Men’s Varsity Week 10/November 11 National Top 20, Division III Top 10 and Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 Polls.

The undisputed top team in the land, the Bruins are once again a unanimous top selection.  Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, which captured the Division III title back at the Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament via a 16-14 victory over then No. 1 Whittier College, remains at No. 1 in the Division III rankings.

In the CWPA Top 10 league poll, the Nothern Division Champion Bears of Brown Universitywithstand another try by Princeton University and Harvard University to take over the top position on the East Coast.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the CWPA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), MPSF, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2015 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 10/November 11)

The 2014 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Champion Bruins of the University of California-Los Angelesmaintain the No. 1 position in the 2015 Week 10/November 11National Top 20 Poll .

Similar to the Week 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 Polls, the Bruins (100 points) are once again a consensus top pick after tallying 99 points in the Week 2 balloting.

For the third week in a row, change comes to the Top 10 as theUniversity of the Pacific (94 points) moves up to acquire sole possession of the No. 2 spot, with the University of California (91 points) dropping back to No. 3.

The University of Southern California (86 points), Stanford University (80 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (75 points), the University of California-Irvine (70 points) and Long Beach State University (65 points) remain at No. 4-to-8, respectively, while the University of California-Davis (57 points) and Princeton University (52 points) both improve one place to round out the Top 10.

Brown University (48 points) jumps to No. 11 with Harvard University (43 points) and Pepperdine University (43 points) tying at No. 12.

Loyola Marymount University (33 points), Santa Clara University (23 points), the University of California-San Diego (22 points), the United States Air Force Academy (19 points), Bucknell University (18 points) and California Baptist University (12 points) rate at No. 14-to-19, respectively.  The trio of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (7 points), the United States Naval Academy (7 points) and Johns Hopkins University (7 points) complete the Top 20 in a three-way tie for the final position.

2015 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 10/November 11)

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (97 points) maintains top billing at No. 1 in the Week 10/November 11 National Division III Top 10 Poll.

Whittier College (92 points) follows to remain at No. 2 for another week, while Johns Hopkins University (89 points) holds firm at No. 3.  TheUniversity of Redlands (83 points) inches in front of Chapman University (82 points) for the No. 4 spot, while Pomona-Pitzer Colleges(79 points) stays at No. 6.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (70 points), California Lutheran University (68 points), the University of La Verne (58 points) and Washington & Jefferson College (46 points) complete the Division III rankings.

Connecticut College (11 points) also received votes.

2015 Men’s Varsity CWPA Top 10 (Week 10/November 11)

The National Top 20 and Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 polls do not agree this week as defending league champion and newly crowned Northern Division winner Brown University hangs on as the top team on the East Coast according to the Week 10/November 11 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 Poll.

The Bears (98 points) remain on top of the league standings by a widening margin as Brown, which topped the CWPA Poll by a point last week, now leads Southern Division Champion Princeton University (94 points) and Northern Division runner-up Harvard University (93 points) by four and five points, respectively.

Southern Division runner-up Johns Hopkins University (84 points) and Southern Division Third Place finisher the United States Naval Academy (78 points) both rise one spot to No. 4 and 5, whileBucknell University (76 points) drops back to No. 6.

St. Francis College Brooklyn (72 points) stays at No. 7, while the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (61 points) and Fordham University (50 points) exchange the No. 8 and 9 slots. George Washington University (49 points) completes the Top 10 with Mercyhurst University (11 points) and Washington & Jefferson College (11 points) also receiving votes.
