Women’s Meet:
FAU’s Agnes Bucz had strong individual performances this weekend, winning both the 100 free (53.36) and 200 free (1:53.88). She also took second in the 200 IM (2:09.93) to IRSC’s Christina Loh (2:07.36).
Abbey King also had strong individual swims, taking first in both the 500 free (5:06.64) and 1000 free (10:23.20). Laura Conoscenti was another stand out for the Owls, taking first in the 200 fly (2:05.64) and third in the 100 fly (59.51).
IRSC’s Tayla Lovemore was a high point scorer, winning the 100 back (56.70) and 100 fly (56.30). She was also the lead off leg of both the winning 2o0 medley relay (Lovemore, Loh, Emilie Stenhammar, Osianna McReed) and the 200 free relay (Lovemore, McReed, Leah Sims, and Stenhammar). In addition to her relay performances, McReed won the 50 free (24.25) and took third in the 100 free (53.78).
Men’s Meet:
The FAU men were not able to pull out a win for the Owls like the women’s team was. That being said, there were still some stand out races for the Owls. Freshman Michael Rahrig swam a 1:53.77 in the 200 fly, which was good for first place. He also finished second in the 100 fly (52.35) to IRSC’s Nicholas Loomis (50.69).
One of the keys to IRSC’s win on the day was their dominant relay performances. They were able to take the first two places straight out of the gates in the 200 medley relay. Both the “A” and “B” team finished a full two seconds ahead of FAU’s fasted squad. Later in the meet, IRSC scored first and third place points in the 200 free relay.
Craig Emslie contributed to these strong finishes in the relays, splitting 25.03 in the breast leg of the winning 200 medley and 20.59 in the second leg of the winning 200 free relay. He also had individual wins in both the 50 and 100 free (20.81, 44.87). Joel Hansson competed in the same relays, splitting 23.14 in the fly leg and 20.33 in the free leg. He also won the 100 breast (57.12) and was third in the 200 IM (1:57.72).
Both teams return to action next weekend at the Georgia Tech Invite from November 19-21.
