Vikings Set To Host Fourth Annual CSU Magnus Cup

The Cleveland State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host the fourth annual CSU Magnus Cup this weekend at Robert F. Busbey Natatorium beginning with Friday’s (Nov. 20) prelims at 9:00 a.m.

The event will run through Sunday (Nov. 22) with the prelims beginning each day at 9:00 a.m. and the finals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 21) and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

CSU will welcome teams from the University of Akron, Duquesne, Notre Dame College, Saginaw Valley State, St. Francis (Pa.), Xavier, Youngstown State, Cumberlands and George Washington.

The Viking men head into the Cup 3-2 on the season while the women sit at 2-6. Each team, though, has consistently gotten faster throughout the season according to head coach Paul Graham. The men will be looking to defend their title at the Cup as they finished atop the field a season ago. The women finished fifth.

The schedule of events for this weekend is as follows:
Friday:
1:00 p.m.: Women’s 1M / Men’s 3M Diving
5:00 p.m.: 200 Free Relay, 50 Breast, 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, 400 Medley Relay

Saturday:
1:00 p.m.: Women’s 3M / Men’s 1M Diving
5:00 p.m.: 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 800 Free

Sunday:
3:00 p.m.: 1650 Free (Fast heat only), 100 IM, 50 Fly, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 50 Back, 200 Fly, 400 Free Relay

The Vikings will have Thanksgiving weekend off before they travel to the Akron Zippy Invitational December 4-6.
