Laukkanen Downs Finnish 100 Breast NR on Day 4 of European SC Champs

2015 EUROPEAN SHORT COURSE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS AT THE WINGATE INSTITUTE IN NETANYA, ISRAEL

20-year-old Jenna Laukkanen of Finland, who has been on a record-breaking tear over the last 12 months, lowered the Finnish national mark in the 100 meter breaststroke to 1:04.56 in winning the women’s 100 breast title at the 2015 European Short Course Championships. Having been 1:05.55 in heats, then 1:04.87 in semi-finals, she took another .2 off the national mark in finals for her second sub-1:05 of the week.

Coming into the meet, Laukkanen’s best 100 breast had been 1:05.02, which was the previous Finnish national record, set in October. Laukkanen also lowered her own Finnish record in the 50m breast on Wednesday when she won the European Championships title with 29.71.
