RALEIGH- The NC State diving team is set to make its appearance in the Wolfpack’s first meet of 2016 at the Georgia Diving Invitational, hosted by the University of Georgia inside Gabrielsen Natatorium Sunday through Tuesday.

Prelims will begin at 11 a.m. with finals to follow immediately after Sunday and Monday. The platform finals will start at 10:30 a.m.Tuesday with the women, followed by the men at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Along with the Pack and host Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, Missouri, SMU, Minnesota, Drexel, Iowa State, Illinois and Clemson will round out the competition at the three-day meet.

“The great thing about this meet is that everyone is coming off of a winter break that has been followed by at least a week of intense training. This will be a great test to see where our divers are leading into the championship season,” said head diving coach Yahya Radman.

“In my eyes the preparation for championship season doesn’t really start until after the second week of January, so this is a good stepping ground for new routines and try to improve on areas that needed help last season,” Radman added. “We’re excited to see where our freshmen are in their training since the Nike Cup, as well as to see how our upperclassmen do under pressure.”

Last time out, senior diver Rachel Mumma represented the Pack at the 2015 USA Diving Winter National Championships on Dec. 18. She competed on the three-meter dive, placing 16th in the preliminary round to advance to the semifinals. In the second round she earned another 16th-place finish to conclude her showing.
