After a few weeks absent from breaking any records, 12-year old star Michael Andrew was pushed to the back burner by college championship meets, Australian State Champs, and the French.
But this weekend, at Lake Central High School in Indiana, Andrew was back to his old efforts and downed yet another National Age Group Record, this one coming in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:00.19.
That broke another ancient record, this one standings since 1994 and Chris Miller out of Long Island. Earlier this year, Andrew also broke Miller’s 50 breaststroke record.
Andrew now holds 6 age group records in 11-12 yards, all of which have been set in the last 6 months. This also gives him a sweep of the 11-12 short course breaststroke records.
And catching up on two records missed in January, a pair of 10 & under National Age Group records went down at a meet on January 20th and 21st in Gloucester, New Jersey. Ivan Puskovitch of the Shockwaves Aquatic Club broke the mark in the 500 free with a 5:14.14, which sliced just a tenth off of Jackson Defore’s mark of 5:14.24 in 2009.
Destin Lasco of the Atlantic City Swim Club broke the 50 back record in 28.37. Lasco actually broke Michael Andrew’s record of 28.58.
Beautiful Swims by both M & M Andrew!! Great Fun! Great Smiles!!….Absolutely delighted to see you swim again!

Congratulations to Micheal and his family! My sons swam this weekend with you at the Lake Central meet in St. John Indiana. You are a great swimmer and we all had fun!
Those last two records actually were swum in Gloucester, New Jersey – at the same meet, in fact.
SYS- You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.
Congrats to Michael and the other record breakers for their hard work and earned accolades.
Good Job Michael! It must be his great coach Peter!
