Full results

The Iowa Hawkeyes had no problem dispatching Western Illinois at home Friday night.

Nikol Lagodzinska and Olivia Kabacinski each doubled up with two individual wins to lead the women. Lagodzinska, a sophomore, took the 200 free (1:52.51) and returned to finish on top in the 100 free (51.21). Kabacinski, meanwhile, touched first in the 50 free (23.98) and then won again in the 50 breast (29.87).

Emma Sougstad, best known for her breaststroke speed, popped out a quick 24.86 to win the 50 fly.

Iowa won both the 400 medley relay and the 200 free relay, topping Western Illinois 144-61.

For the men, Jerzy Twarowski had a big 48.07 split on Iowa’s B medley relay, and came back to eke out a win in the 50 fly. He touched out at 22.19, just ahead of Western Illinois’ Chris Neaveill (22.22).

Roman Trussov had a big victory in the 50 breast, registering a 24.73. Shortly after, he popped a 19.95 on Iowa’s winning 200 free relay.

That wasn’t the most impressive split on the relay, though– 50 free champ Charles Holliday split a 19.69 on the 2nd leg of that relay. The foursome finished at 1:20.44.

The Hawkeye men experienced a big win over Western Illinois, too, the final score reading 147-71 in Iowa’s favor.
