Powers defended her title in the 500 free, dominating the event finishing in a time of 4:47.63, just off of her best time, but in NCAA ‘B-cut’ time of 4:47.63. This years 3rd place finisher from Toledo; Comer, improved her time from her 6th place finish last year (4:55.58). Ashley Drazkowski and Carly Jackson, who finished 2nd and 3rd at the 2015 MAC Championships, placed 7th and 5th respectively this year.

Akron freshman Myers made an impact at her first collegiate conference, winning the event in NCAA ‘B-cut’ time and new meet record. Lemire of Miami Ohio and Marrero of Akron also swam NCAA ‘B-cut’ times along with 4th place finisher Grace Van Allen of Eastern Michigan (2:01.49).

The 50 free A final was a close race with 6 of the 8 finalists making NCAA ‘B-cut’. Burns of the University of Buffalo, lead the way defending her title from last year, just missing the conference record of 22.24. Raspopovich took 2nd place again for the 2nd straight year, improving her time by 0.07 seconds.
200 Free Relay

Three of Akron’s freshmen; Myers, Ragen Engel and Sadie Fazekas joined senior Raspopovich to swim a new meet record, breaking the 5-year old record of 1:30.30. Myers got the team off to a good start, swimming 23.09 from a flat start, Engel then continued the lead with a 22.47 and Raspopovich swam 3rd leg, clocking in in 22.39. Fazekas posted an impressive 22.11 to give Akron more first place points.
