California’s Ryan Murphy earned his second consecutive Pac-12 Male Swimmer of the Month honor for his work in the month of February, while USC’s Collin Pollard picked up his second Male Diver of the Month honor this season after winning earlier in November.
Murphy performed well all month in three dual meets, winning all 4 of his individual races and being on 3 winning relays. Murphy claimed the 200 IM (1:48.17) against CSU Bakersfield, the 100 back (45.85) and the 100 free (43.86) against USC, and the 100 free (43.95) again against Stanford. Murphy was a member of Cal’s medley relay at each meet, winning all three times. Swimmers Richard Bohus (ASU) and Pawel Furtek (USC) were also nominated.
As for Pollard, he claimed Pac-12 Diver of the Meet honors at his final conference championship. Pollard won his first career title on platform, scoring 427.70. He also finished 2nd on 1-meter (402.15) and 5th on 3-meter (357.40). He finished his Pac-12 career having never missed a final at the conference championships. Pollard was also a key factor in USC’s dual meet victories over Cal and Stanford, as he won the 1-meter event at both meets. December and January’s Diver of the Month Rafael Quintero (ARIZ) was also nominated.
