Fresh off the NCAA Championships, Indiana’s Kennedy Goss is competing at the 2016 Canadian Olympic Trials in hopes of qualifying for a spot on the Canadian Olympic squad.
Goss already competed in the 400m freestyle, finishing third and just shy of an Olympic birth. Goss was less than a second off the FINA ‘A’ qualifying time finishing third behind Canadian record holder Brittany MacLean and young up-and-comer Taylor Ruck.
With no swims Wednesday, Goss will be back in action Thursday morning in the 200m freestyle. Goss is seeded fourth in 1:59.01 which puts her in a very solid position to make the final.
Goss will need to finish top four in the final in order to make the 4x200m freestyle relay team. She’s got some stiff competition in the event, so it should be a dogfight all the way.
On Saturday Goss will swim the 100m freestyle before competing in arguably her best event, the 200m backstroke, on Sunday. Goss is seeded ninth in the 200m backstroke, but as is evident from her placing in the 400m freestyle, she’s got the speed to make the final and compete with the best.
