There are few things that will make you want to run straight through a brick wall, flex all your muscles, and be doused in Gatorade more than watching Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson’s reaction to making the Olympic team.

It’s rare to be able to see all the hard work that went into a performance, all the dedication and emotion, but Seltenreich-Hodgson lets it all show in an inspiring realization that her dream of one day competing at the Olympic Games had come true.

Seltenreich-Hodgson touched second in the 200m IM last night to Sydney Pickrem, dropping under the FINA ‘A’ standard to make the team under the priority three qualification criteria.

Seltenreich-Hodgson was a 2:12.47 last night in the final. The Olympic berth came after she was just shy of making the team in the 400m IM on night two, finishing third to both Pickrem and Emily Overholt.

Seltenreich-Hodgson will have once more chance to add an extra individual event – she’ll be swimming in the 200m backstroke heats on Sunday.

Over the past few seasons Seltenreich-Hodgson has represented Canada internationally. Last summer she finished fifth at the Pan American Games in the 200m IM to follow up a breakthrough performance at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
