2016 Canadian Paralympic Trials: Day 6 Prelims Live Recap

2016 CANADIAN OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC TRIALS

On the final day of the 2016 Canadian Paralympic Trials we’ll see just one event, the 100 freestyle. On the other days we’ve seen some classifications swim 50 breast and others swim 100 breast, but today all classifications are open for the 100 freestyle. This just adds to the competition for all the swimmers competing. The 100 free will start off todays prelims session in Toronto. The swimmers will finally find out tonight the 22 person roster for the Paralympics in September.

Women’s 100m Freestyle PARA S1-14 Multi-Class Prelims

  1. Aurelie Rivard, 1:02.59, S10
  2. Morgan Bird, 1:11.10, S8
  3. Katarina Roxon, 1:07.87, S9
  4. Abi Tripp, 1:13.79, S8
  5. Tess Routliffe, 1:19.15, S7
  6. Samantha Ryan, 1:08.33, S1O
  7. Camille Berube, 1:16.61, S8
  8. Sabrina Duchesne, 1:17.38, S8
  9. Gabby Baird, 1:13.79, S9
  10. Shelby Newkirk, 1:24.96, S7

Aurelie Rivard continued her great showing in the 100 freestyle, posting the top time in 1:02.59. That time moves Rivard into 3rd in the world rankings in the S10 category. Morgan Bird (1:11.10) and Katarina Roxon (1:07.87) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Bird’s time moves her into 2nd in the world in the S8 category, while Roxon’s time puts her 9th in the world in the S9 category.

  2. Isaac Bouckley, 55.98, S10

Zack McAllister takes the top seed into tonight in the men’s 100 free, posting a time of 1:01.74 that elevates him into 3rd in the world for 2016 in the S8 category. Isaac Bouckley (55.98) moves into 6th in the world in the S10 category, and Nathan Stein (56.35) moves into 7th in the same category. They head into tonight seeded 2nd and 3rd respectively.
