Boscaino Twins Make Commitment to Florida Gators for Next Fall

Nazareno and Ludovico Boscaino, twins from Tampa, Florida, have chosen to stay in state and will swim for Gregg Troy’s Florida Gators starting next fall.

The twins are seniors and have competed for Sickle High School in Tampa, and they swim club for Clearwater Aquatic Team.

Ludovico excels in freestyle, and is best at the 200 and above. His best times are below:

  • 200 free –  1:40.62/1:55.60
  • 500/400 free – 4:27.14/3:59.94
  • 1000/800 free – 9:18.42/8:32.57
  • 1650/1500 free – 15:24.11/15:48.12

Nazareno is also great in mid-distance to distance freestyle, and is already ready to contribute to the Gators’ program. His best times below:

  • 200 free –  1:38.76/1:53.15
  • 500/400 free – 4:22.03/3:55.66
  • 1000/800 free – 9:04.10/8:15.08
  • 1650/1500 free – 15:05.90/15:42.28

He has Olympic Trials cuts in the 400 and 1500 free.

At the 2015 FHSAA 3A State Championships, while competing for Sickle, both twins made the 200 and 500 free A final. Nazareno won the 500 free and finished 3rd in the 200 free, while Ludovico was 3rd in the 500 and 7th in the 200.

Nazareno would’ve been on the B/C final cusp in the 500 free at the 2016 SEC Championships, while Ludovico would’ve been just off of making the C final himself. It took a 15:33.35 to score in the mile at SECs, and both Nazareno (12th) and Ludovico (22nd) would’ve earned points for Florida with their lifetime bests.

Florida’s top miler, Arthur Frayler, has used up all of his eligibility, as has their top SEC 500 freestyler, Pawel Werner. Nonetheless, Troy has built up a strong distance group in which these twins will find themselves.
