Poland has moved its national championship meet back a day, with the event now taking place from May 27 to May 30.
The meet was originally scheduled for May 26-29, which would have been a Thursday through a Sunday. The meet now runs Friday to Monday.
The Polish Swimming Federation announced the change on its website earlier this month.
The move does provide a bit more cushion between the Polish National Championships and the 2016 European Championships, which take place from May 9 through May 22 in London, England. The pool swimming events will be run on the back end of that span, from May 16 through May 22.
Polish nationals now kick off 5 days after the end of Euros instead of 4 days, as originally scheduled.
Documents on the Polish federation site suggest that Polish Nationals won’t serve as a direct qualifier for the nation’s Olympic team. Early applications for the Olympic team (for athletes who meet FINA’s Olympic qualifying standards) was January 31st of this year, and supplementary qualification will take place through this summer’s Mare Nostrum meet.
