National Team Member Annie Lazor moves to SwimMAC

Annie Lazor has decided to train with the Team Elite group at SwimMAC in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Trials. SwimMAC CEO David Marsh will train with Team Elite until the 2016 Olympic Trials, though she will still represent Auburn.

Coaching will be done in collaboration with Brett Hawke, the head coach at Auburn, and Sergio Lopez, the team’s new associate-head coach. Marsh says that collaborating with the coaches at Auburn will be a key to the success of the visit, saying that “collaborative team coaching is a strength of what we do in swimming in the United States.”

Marsh is the head coach of the 2016 U.S. Women’s Olympic Team.

At the 2012 Olympic Trials, Lazor placed 15th in the 200 breast (2:31.20).

Lazor began her collegiate career at Ohio State where she earned an NCAA ‘B’ cut in the 200 breast (2:12.13), but fell short of qualifying for the 2013 NCAA Championships.

For her sophomore season, Lazor transferred to Auburn to swim for the Tigers, and earned NCAA ‘B’ cuts in both the 100 and 200 breast, but again failed to qualify for NCAA Championships in 2014.

At the 2014 Phillips 66 National Championships, Lazor placed 8th in the 200 breast (2:30.30).

Lazor thrived in her junior season, qualifying for NCAA Championships and placing 10th in the 200 breast in a time of 2:08.41. Lazor also placed 6th in the 100 breast (59.82) at SEC Championships in 2015. In addition to two All-American Honors at NCAA Championships, Lazor’s spectacular season landed her a spot on the USA Pan American Games Roster.

At the 2016 SEC Championships, Lazor placed 3rd in the 100 breast(59.68) and also came in 3rd in the 200 breast (2:08.31). At NCAA Championships in 2016, Lazor came in 13th in the 100 breast (59.95) and 13th in the 200 breast(2:08.35).

Lazor will be joining an all-star training group with two of the best female breaststrokers in the country, Micah Lawrence and Kate Meili. Her new training partners rank 1st (Meili) and tied for 4th (Lawrence) in the U.S. in the 100 breaststroke dating back to January 1, 2014; and 1st (Lawrence) and 3rd (Meili) in the 200 over the same time period.
