Swimming Canada has released the official roster for the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships after unofficially naming the roster at the 2016 Canadian Olympic Trials.
The 31-strong swimmer roster will be headed to Maui, Hawaii to compete in the five day meet which begins on August 24th and ends on the 28th.
Of those 31 athletes, 13 are men and 18 are women.
The roster features three medallists from last year’s junior world championships including Daniella Hanus, Mary-Sophie Harvey, and Rebecca Smith.
While the three are the only medallists from last year’s competition, they’ll be joined by Warren Meyer, Stephen Calkins, Olivia Anderson, Tessa Cieplucha, Sarah Darcel, and Margaret MacNeil who all competed at last year’s junior world championships.
Every member of last year’s women’s team at junior worlds is on this current roster with the exception of both Penny Oleksiak and Taylor Ruck who qualified for the Olympic team.
Ten of the women on the roster will be competing on their first major junior national team. Eleven of the men will be competing on their first major junior national team.

There are a lot of good names here. However, most of these have been previously IDed by Swim Canada for many years. It is interesting to note when equality is a priority, only 13 men are selected
as opposed to 18 women.
