The third of four days at the Polish National Championships saw one national record and one FINA “A” cut.
Tomasz Polewka broke the only national record of the day, going 24.72 in the 50 backstroke. Polewka shaved almost another tenth off his previous record of 24.80 set almost exactly one year ago to the day.
The men’s 400 free featured a FINA “A” cut, though the event winner had already qualified for the Olympic Games. Filip Zaborowski was 3:49.75, well under the FINA cut and more than a second ahead of the field. Zabrowski had already hit the “A” cut, though, after going 3:48.43 earlier this month at the European Championships.
Pawel Korzeniowski was just .01 off the FINA “A” cut in the men’s 100 fly, going 52.37. He’s also already qualified for the Olympics based on his 51.98 from Euros.
In another highlight swim, Aleksandra Urbanczyk was only three tenths off her own national 50 back record, going 28.47.
Other event winners:
- Paulina Nogaj was 59.90 to win the women’s 100 fly, the only swimmer under a minute.
- Paulina Zachoszcz went 2:30.16 to win the women’s 200 breast.
- The men’s race went to Jacek Arentewicz in 2:13.32, a narrow touchout of Mikolaj Machnik‘s 2:13.46.
- Justyna Burska took the women’s 400 free in 4:14.52.
- The women’s 200 IM went to Karazyna Baranowska in 2:16.89.
- In the men’s 200 IM, national record-holder Marcin Cieslak was 2:00.64 to win by more than a second.
