National Junior Teamer Camden Murphy Gives Verbal to Georgia for 2017

Camden Murphy, a member of USA Swimming’s National Junior Team from Novi, Michigan, has verbally committed to swim for University of Georgia in the fall of 2017. Murphy is currently a junior at Novi High School, although he doesn’t swim for his high school team.

“I chose University of Georgia because of excellent academics, wonderful coaches and great team that I can’t wait to be a part of. As soon as I visited UGA, the team welcomed me and I instantly wanted to be a Bulldog! University of Georgia has a great reputation for developing amazing swimmers and students!”

Murphy swims with Kingfish Aquatic Club of Waterford. He won both the 100 and 200 butterfly events at the Speedo Winter Junior Nationals- East last December, and briefly held the National Age Group record holder in the 100 fly, until Michael Andrew lowered it an hour later at Speedo Winter Junior Nationals- West.

Murphy will take the reins from Pace Clark, the lone Bulldog scorer in the A final of the 100 fly who will have graduated by the time Murphy first suits up. His 100 fly time would have made top 8 at 2016 SECs and his 200 would have placed him in the B final. Murphy will join one of the top 200 fly groups in the country with Gunnar Bentz, Mick Litherland, Powell Brooks, and Blake Atmore.
