Back in the 2012 U.S Olympic trials, Elizabeth Pelton was 3rd in the 200 IM. This upcoming U.S Trials, she is not entered in the event.
Pelton is entered in 4 events, the 100 and 200 free and the 100 and 200 back. In her last Olympic Trials she was 3rd in two events, including the 200 IM.
Only the top 2 make it for the IM’s and backstroke, but top 6 go in the 200 free for relay purposes. She could have a shot at making it top 6 in the 200 free.
The finals of the 100 backstroke fall on the same day as the semi-finals for the 200 IM. She could be focusing on those finals of the backstroke. However, the 200 free semi-finals (which she is entered in) is also on that same exact day.
In that morning, the 200 free and 200 IM fall with only one event in between them. We will just have to see how the finals on Tuesday go with the 100 back.
Unless she makes the finals in the 200 free, she will have Wednesday off. Thursday she will swim the 100 free in the morning and the semi-finals that evening. Friday she will have her 200 back, which should be a great race.
Go Liz! Cheering you on from CT!
Love Liz, she rocks!
Great swimmer. Really hoping she will put together a great race or two at trials!
If only they had the trials in 2013 when she peaked. Unfortunate timing for her
Over time, swim careers have ups and downs and it depends on so many factors and variables. Look at Dana vollmer for example. To qualify for Oly trials is an achievement and honor that swimmers work hard for and persevere through injury and adversity and hurdles. Liz Pelton is going to swim her best, maybe we will see her in Rio. Go Liz!
Let’s go Liz!
