2016-17 Women’s Swimming and Diving Schedule

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The La Salle University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have officially announced their schedules for the upcoming 2016-17 season. In addition to seeing familiar competition from the Atlantic 10, the Explorers will face a series of tough non-conference opponents including schools from the Ivy League, Big East, and CAA.

“We create a challenging schedule to put our student athletes in a position to be successful,” said head coach Jamie Platt.  “From start to finish, each meet has a purpose along with exciting opportunities.  This schedule puts our swimmers and divers up against tough local and conference competition throughout and our team will reap the benefit of that at the end of the year.  I am excited to see the teams make the most of each opportunity.”

The women’s team opens its season on the road against Atlantic 10 opponent Rhode Island on October 15, just a week before the Explorers host the Philly Relays at Kirk Pool on October 21. La Salle then faces a couple of local non-conference schools the following day in a tri-meet with Villanova and Drexel.

La Salle has the opportunity to preview the site of the Atlantic 10 Championship, the Spire Institute, when it takes on Duquesne, St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis in a four-way dual meet on October 29.

Coach Platt’s teams continue their road swing in a tri-meet at Delaware with Rider on November 12 before ending the semester at the Bucknell Invitational, a three-day trials/finals invite from December 2-4.

The Blue and Gold will return from break to host four straight meets in January, starting with a dual against George Mason on January 16. The following Saturday, the teams will host both Richmond and Fordham. Richmond’s women’s team is the six-time defending Atlantic 10 champion.

La Salle will round out its dual meets with two non-conference opponents in hosting Mount St. Mary’s (Jan. 27) and Rowan (Jan. 28). The Explorers will finish their regular season at the Villanova Sprint Fest on February 4.
