While swimmers like Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte continue to add to their Olympic medal career totals, the Rio Olympic Games serve as a first chance for many young swimmers to represent their respective nations at an Olympic Games.
A couple of juniors have taken the Olympic stage by a storm, including Australia’s 100 free gold medalist Kyle Chalmers, and Canada’s 100 free gold medalist Penny Oleksiak, who has won 4 medals so far in her first Olympic Games.
NOTE: This includes all swimmers who are 18 years old or younger as of the day of the race. In some of the races, there were less than 3 junior swimmers entered (M 200 BK, M 200 IM). For those that advanced to semis and finals, we’ve used their fastest time of the meet.
Swimmers who qualified for the Olympic final in their events are in bold.
