Uxbridge Swim Club Hires Mischa Sommerville

The Uxbridge Swim Club has announced that Mischa Sommerville has joined the Club as head coach. Mischa brings a wealth of knowledge to the position with his most recent role as the Head Age Group coach with the Scarborough Swim Club. He has additionally worked with top athletes from some of the top clubs in Canada (North York Aquatic Club, COBRA as well as the former Ajax Swimming) and has assisted those clubs in earning top finishes at Provincial, Age Group Nationals as well as National Championship competitions.

As a former competitive swimmer, Mischa earned numerous Provincial Age Group medals himself as well as competed in numerous Canadian Nationals including the Commonwealth trials and Pan Am trials as a finalist. He earned a full athletic swimming scholarship at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas, where he attained seven school records as well as earning NCAA qualification status during his 4 years of eligibility.

Mischa has built a solid reputation in the swimming community as an enthusiastic and hardworking coach with strong communication skills with swimmers, parents and fellow coaches and demonstrates a unique ability to connect individually with the athletes he supervises. Interestingly, Mischa was born in Uxbridge and lived there for the first few years of his life.

USC President Travis Campbell commented, “We’re thrilled to have Mischa at the helm of the Club. We feel his experience with elite programs as well as his commitment to his athletes will help us continue to punch above our weight as a small club. We have some extremely talented young swimmers and look forward to them flourishing under Mischa’s direction.”
