MIT Swimming and Diving Adds 26 For 2016-17 Campaign

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (August 16) — A combined 26 incoming freshman will be added to the MIT men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams this fall, as announced by Mary Frances Wagley, ’47 Head Coach Dani Korman.

“After my first year at MIT, I am extremely excited to welcome the Class of 2020! Their academic excellence, athletic accomplishments, and outstanding character will only add to the success of the program,” said Korman. “I am confident they will make an immediate impact in the classroom, in the pool, and on the boards not only within the NEWMAC Conference, but nationally as well.”

Both teams capped thier respective seasons by winning the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming and Diving Championship, along with finishing in the top-10 at the NCAA Division III Championship. The men clinched fifth place – the fifth time in the last six years the Engineers have registered a top-5 finish – while the women finished ninth – the fifth straight season in which MIT has taken a spot in the top-10 at nationals.
