Oakland Announces Their 2016/2017 Schedule

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach Pete Hovland announced the 2016-17 schedule on Thursday which includes four non-conference home meets at the Oakland Aquatic Center.

The Golden Grizzlies will begin with their annual Black and Gold meet on Friday, Sept. 23 followed by the alumni meet the following day.  The women will open their season at Bowling Green for the Tom Stubbs Relays on Friday, Sept. 30, while the men will travel to Notre Dame for the Dennis Stark Relays on Friday, Oct. 7. The men will stay overnight for a dual meet the next day against the Irish at 11 a.m.

The defending Horizon League champions will host four dual meets, all non-conference, beginning with Wayne State Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. Eastern Michigan will come to Rochester on Saturday, November 12 at 1 p.m. followed by Michigan State (Jan. 21) and Bowling Green (Feb. 3, women only).

Oakland’s dual meet road schedule includes Duquesne (Oct. 14, women only), Youngstown State (Oct. 15, women only) and Cleveland State (Jan. 27). The Golden Grizzlies also will participate in a pair of quad meets, the first at UIC with Wright State and Green Bay Nov. 4-5 and the second at Cincinnati with Kenyon and Ohio State Jan. 13-14.
