This is Synchro! Hold Your Breath (VIDEO)

FINA uploaded a video to their YouTube channel highlighting the beauty and difficulty that encompasses the sport of synchronized swimming. The video takes an aim at highlighting why synchro deserves our attention and respect. It features some of synchronized swimming‘s best during their performances at last summer’s World Championships in Kazan.

Synchronized swimming is often described as a mix of swimming, dancing, and gymnastics, and performing all three at the same time is as difficult as it sounds. The result is absolutely amazing to see and after watching the video, you will agree that the discipline and its athletes deserve our attention and respect!” Check it out below!

This video comes just after the completion of synchronized swimming at the Olympics, where Russia came out on top yet again. The USA failed to medal, with Russian pair Natalia Ischenko and Svetlana Romashina combining to win a second-straight Olympic gold in the synchronized swimming duet on Tuesday– giving them each 4 career gold medals.

With boys and men allowed to swim in mixed duets………………….This might be the thing to focus the chauvinist male sports media to see synchro as a super sport where strength, endurance and grace meet. More boys in synchro clubs will soon park the attitude of male-centred sport media.

Who is stronger? A male water polo player or a super female synchro swimmer??? Go with the ladies by a mile.
