Hosszu Builds 137-Point World Cup Lead In Berlin

Just two meets in to the 9-event 2016 FINA World Cup, Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu has built a commanding lead of more than 130 points.

Hosszu added 45 points in Berlin to climb to 258 total for the series. She sits 137 ahead of Alia Atkinson, and appears locked in for the biggest of the first cluster bonuses, which will be awarded after this weekend’s stop in Moscow.

On the men’s side, Vlad Morozov still leads with 172 points. That’s a comfortable 49-point margin over former series champ Chad le Clos (123).

Each individual event yields points for the top 3 finishers.

• Gold: 12 points
• Silver: 9 points
• Bronze: 6 points

World Record Bonuses

Each world record yields 20 points. Tying a world record is worth 10 points.

Performance Bonuses

The top 3 male and top 3 female swims of the meet earn bonus points. Top swims are determined based on FINA points. Only the top-scoring swim from each athlete is counted.
