As an encore to crushing the SM10 World Record in the men’s 200 meter IM, Ukrainian Denys Dubrov returned to crush the World Record in the S10 100 fly final on Monday evening.

Dubrov and his countrymate Maksym Krypak both swam more than a second under the old World Record in the final, with Dubrov winning in 54.71 and Krypak taking 2nd in 54.90. The 3rd-place finisher, Andre Brasil from Brazil, touched in 56.50 – he was the old World Record holder at 55.99 from the 2010 World Championships.

Krypak and Dubrov both swam their lifetime bests in this event at the 2014 Ukrainian Championships (full championships, without para-classification), where Dubrov took 2nd in 53.66 and Krypak took 6th in 54.55. Four months after that race, Dubrov would race at the IPC European Championships representing the Ukraine, where he added 5 seconds and took a bronze medal.

Dubrov now has 5 total medals, including gold in the 100 fly and 200 IM. Krypak has 4 total medals, with golds in the 100 back and 50 free.

Dubrov’s 100 fly PB is definitely not 53.66. He swam 52.21 at the 2009 World Champs, placing 30th overall: http://www.fina.org/competition-detailed-results/1648. Swam the fly leg of the medley relay at 2009 Worlds, too – went 51.87: http://www.fina.org/competition-detailed-results/1644

Also, he still holds the able-bod Ukrainian National Record in the 200IM, 2:00.35 (set in 2009): http://usf.org.ua/records-m50.html

The 3 ukrainian swimmers are a shame for the IPC. The IPC has been warned about this since eindhoven 2014, but did’nd do anything about this. The only answer they gave was : Perhaps they swim faster because they are training more than other swimmers.
I think a good classifier for the IPC must be deaf, dumb and blind .

If dubrov wants to be disabled then we will have to do like ISIS and cut of one of his legs. ( sorry for the proposel, but my Son lost his leg and Dubrov only lost his honesty)

Krypak beat his lifetime bests in the 50m and 100m free from when he was able bodied!!!

This is a joke. No one who’s truly disabled could be swimming times that would have made the US Olympic Team in the early 1980s. This destroys the meaning and spirit of Paralympics.
