NCAA Pulls 7 Championships Out of North Carolina Over ‘Bathroom Bill’

The NCAA has announced it will move 7 of its major championship events out of the state of North Carolina in response to the controversial ‘bathroom bill’ that some criticize as discriminatory.

The NCAA released a statement announcing the moves on Monday. Per that statement:

Based on the NCAA’s commitment to fairness and inclusion, the Association will relocate all seven previously awarded championship events from North Carolina during the 2016-17 academic year. The NCAA Board of Governors made this decision because of the cumulative actions taken by the state concerning civil rights protections.

The following events have been moved for the coming school year:

No swim meets will be affected, but if the NCAA continues to avoid the state of North Carolina then we won’t see a return of NCAA swimming to Greensboro, NC, which hosted the 2015 women’s NCAA Championships.

The decision seems mostly based around the law HB2, which was signed into law earlier this year. The law deals with gender identity, and garnered national media attention as “the bathroom bill,” as it requires transgender people to use restrooms that correspond with the sex on their birth certificates in government buildings. On a broader scale, the law defines “biological sex” as “the physical condition of being male or female, which is stated on a person’s birth certificate.” That changes the scope of the state’s anti-discrimination law, which now protects from discrimination based on “biological sex” but does not mention transgender people.

Anyone who supports men using the women’s restroom is either A. Not married or B. Does not have kids. Dads in the crowd…Imagine a transgender male going in after your 5 year old daughter – you are insane if you think this is a good thing for society as a whole.

Let me be more clear –

Any American male, especially fathers with daughters, who think this type of garbage is good for society, and who supports transgender men using women’s restrooms, should be embarrassed to have the last name their grandfather gave them.

American males who support this nonsense are spineless.

Man goes into a women’s bathroom after my wife or daughter, there will be trouble. Our country has gone psychotic. No longer any basis for women’s sports now.

Congrats. Your statement is deplorable, reactionary, and has made all of us that read it less educated. Almost on par with something as dumb as the Governor of NC or Trump might say!

Bring back Dubbya. He made everything so simple. “Wanted, Dead or Alive” was one of my favourites, which was almost as good as “Smoke him out!”

No, it’s logical, based on science, morality, decency, and facts Men and men and women are women, and girls have the right to use the bathroom, change, and not have perverted mentally ill men (or worse) coming in after them pretending they’re women. Mental illness needs to be treated, and while we can have compassion for men who are so ill they believe they are women, we still need to protect our women and girls from them. There need to be safe spaces for women and girls to dress and shower and use the facilities, and there need to be women’s sports. The psychosis that is transgenderism is threatening both.

Then why have women and men sports? Title 9 is all the NCAA should have to worry about! Lets create a 3rd class of athletes.

Everybody loves California food but can’t eat it there because of the lenient rape sentencing .

Tex Mex is out .

What can we eat , where can we go ?

I like the NCAA’s decision here. That being said, for them to claim that they have a “commitment to fairness” is laughable – can’t collect Pro Swim Series prize money, Mark Emmert wants to take away Operation Gold awards, football and basketball players aren’t paid… come on bruh if you’re gonna commit to fairness then actually commit to fairness

Is it?

The economic policies of the NCAA should be attacked. Athletes as talented as Jeremy Bloom and Joseph Schooling should be allowed to keep prize money to offset training costs.
Bloom, a world class skier who also played college football, was even denied making money in freestyle skiing while also playing college football (two completely different sports)! The behavior, reach, and tactics of the NCAA in that matter where completely ridiculous!

We are on our way to eliminating men’s and women’s sports because people now think there is no such thing as gender. Then, people will get upset about discrimination against women who can’t compete with men and we will be back here where we started

Oh yes, the slippery slope, known throughout academia as a valid point that will win any argument. Glad that you cleared up why the NCAA is wrong and leading us all to destruction. Wrap it up everyone, not legislating bathrooms will lead to the destruction of all social norms. Nothing to do here.

The big fuss was about the bathrooms, but the bill eliminated any local government discrimination laws already on the books.
Just an awful piece of legislation.http://www.ncjustice.org/?q=18-questions-18-answers-real-facts-behind-house-bill-2
