Ever wonder who the most inspiring speaker is from Team USA? It would be hard to argue against the 40 years of professional speaking and superb story telling that John Naber has done. And of course the indefatigable Rowdy Gaines has been sharing his enthusiasm for the sport of swimming going on 30 years now. And folks like Janet Evans and Josh Davis have been on the speaking circuit for 20 years. And, of course, nothing is as cool as watching “The Relay” and having Jason “The Anchor” Lezak retell what happened in that miracle moment in Beijing 2008.
But some say that the most dynamic speaker in Team USA history with an incredible story of how he started and succeeded in swimming is Cleveland native Byron Davis. Byron has been a professional speaker and life coach for 20 years and has been based out of Southern California since finishing swimming for UCLA under famed coach Ron Ballatore and marrying Olympic sand volleyball Champion Annett Davis.
For Byron’s success in swimming and life he is being inducted into Cleveland’s Hawken School Hall of Fame this Friday night Oct 7th. On Saturday Oct 8th Byron will be leading a swim clinic to the local kids in Cleveland and telling his story of how swimming changed his life for good.
First watch his conversation with Josh Davis and learn how he accidentally fell into swimming, but how it became ‘the best mistake’ of his life. Then, take a moment to spread the word on this incredible opportunity to have your swimmer sit under the teachings of Byron Davis at the upcoming clinic.
Below is the registration page for the clinic with Byron and attached is the flyer for the clinic, open to swimmers aged 10-18. It might just be what your swimmer needs to BREAKOUT!
This is great I went to Kirk (East) Middle School with Byron. I remember being in swim class at the YMCA over on Lee Rd. because we took gym classes there since we were located at Shaw (Kirk was full that year). The teacher Ms. Mentor was timing Byron swimming….I have always tried to keep up with his career. Proud of him!
YES!! Byron Davis is the man! He’s got an incredible story and was a legendary leader at UCLA. Such an inspiration for many upcoming swimmers today! Very smart move for the BREAKOUT! clinic to bring him on. Go Byron!!
