Hungary On The Right Track Ahead Of Hosting 2017 World Championships

After reviewing the details of their preparations for the 2017 FINA World Championships, FINA President Julio Maglione has stated that the Hungarians are on the right track in regards to their hosting duties. The meet will be held in Budapest, Hungary from July 14th-30th, 2017.

According to Maglione, construction of the new swimming arena is progressing better than expected, so the facilities should be ready well ahead of the deadline. The new aquatic complex for the competition will include 3 venues within a 3 kilometer radius of each other.

The 2017 World Championships were originally set to take place in Guadalajara, Mexico. However, the Mexican Swimming Federation pulled out of hosting the meet for economic reasons, including the high cost of hosting the event. Following Mexico’s withdrawal, Budapest assumed hosting duties.

The World Championships will serve as the championship event for 6 different aquatic sports: pool swimming, open water swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, and high diving.

The Palace of the Pools venue will play host to pool swimming, synchro swimming, diving, and water polo, while open water and high diving will take place at Lake Balaton, about 120 kilometers outside of the city center.

How good would it be if Underwater Orienteering was an event .Its apparently big in Hungary & would certainly test a few more skills than the black line travelled x many ways .

Think big FINA .
