MALLORY FOX
Mallory Fox of Ozaukee Aquatics has given her verbal commitment to the University of Iowa. The two-time 2015 Wisconsin Division 2 HS Champion is set to join their class of 2021.
TOP TIMES (SCY/LCM)
- 50 free – 23.46/26.73
- 100 free – 50.53/57.48
- 200 free – 1:50.98/2:08.73
Fox, a senior at Grafton High School just outside of Milwaukee, was on two relays which won Wisconsin Division 2 titles last season. She split a 22.94 anchoring their 200 medley relay, which broke the state record, while her 50.81 lead-off leg helped the 400 free relay helped Grafton to a win there.
Individually, Fox placed 2nd in both the 50 free and 100 free. Those being her best events, Fox is still capable of putting up strong swims in the 200 free, making her a potential relay piece for any of the five relays swum in college.
KELSEY DRAKE
Kelsey Drake is the Iowa state record holder in the 100 yard butterfly, and she trains with the Linn-Mar Swim Team. She won state titles in the 100 fly and 200 IM at the 2014 Iowa HS Championships as a sophomore.

- 100 fly – 54.51
- 200 fly – 2:00.18
- 100 back – 57.26
- 100 breast – 1:04.77
- 200 IM – 2:02.05
- 50 free – 23.76
- 100 free – 51.20
- 200 free – 1:52.47
Drake is a threat in a multitude of events, making her a great 200 IM’er. Her biggest strength is the butterfly, however, and she holds a PR of 1:01.17 for a 2016 Olympic Trials cut in the 100 fly.
WHERE THEY FIT IN
Fox is closest to scoring at the B1G Champs in the 100 free, where she’s less than four tenths off of what it took to make the C final last year. That said, she’s also just under four tenths off of C final cut-offs from 2016 in the 50 free. She’ll make her mark with relays, however– Iowa finished just tenth in the 200 free relay at B1G’s last season, with no swimmer breaking 22.70 and only two swimmers under 23. In the 400 free relay, where Iowa also finished 10th, no swimmer broke 50 seconds. With her 200 free time, she should be an immediate candidate for their 800 free relay, too, which finished 11th last season.
Drake, meanwhile, will get to train two seasons with Iowa 100 fly program record holder Kelly McNamara. Drake would’ve C-finaled in both fly races at the 2016 B1G Champs with her bests, and would’ve been close to scoring in the 200 IM as well.
