The Florida State women are bringing in another breaststroker next season. City of Midlands Swim Team’s Kile Carriger has verball committed to the Seminoles, and will head to Tallahassee after graduating from Midland High School.
Carriger was a championship finalist in the 100 breast at the 2016 Texas 6A State Championships, placing 7th overall. Her 2nd event there was the 200 IM, where she placed 15th. Throughout her high school career, Carriger has been among the top 100 breaststrokers in the state, earning a bronze medal in that event at the 2015 6A state meet.
At last season’s Speedo Winter Junior Nationals (West), Carriger competed in 3 events: the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 IM. Her highest finish came in the 200 breast, where she was 15th overall.
Carriger’s Top Times:
Event | Best time |
100 breast | 1:03.29 |
200 breast | 2:17.06 |
200 IM | 2:04.12 |
100 fly | 57.38 |
100 free | 52.26 |
Carriger’s best time in the 200 breast is already within a tenth of what it took to score at last season’s ACC Championships, so she has the potential to be an immediate scorer with marginal improvements. She’s also just 4 tenths shy of scoring range in the 100 breast.
When she arrives at FSU, Carriger will be a member of Head Coach Neal Studd‘s first recruiting class. Since he arrived earlier this fall, Studd has added several members to the incoming group. The following women have also verbally committed to Florida State’s class of 2021:
- Ana Guilia Zortea
- Audrey Mooney
- Bella English
- Hailey Ladd
- Kara Coughlin
- Madison Holland
- Natalie Widmer
- Paige Schendelaar-Kemp
- Kathryn Petrone
- Madison Tyle
- Maddy Cohen
