Binghamton Bearcats Grab Verbal From SVY’s Lizzie Borges

The Binghamton women will be adding a new member to their roster next season, as the Somerset Valley YMCA’s Lizze Borges is the latest to give her verbal commitment to the Bearcats. Borges will be making the move to campus from New Jersey after she graduates from Piscataway High School at the end of this school year.

Last season, Borges cracked the top 16 of the 200 and 500 freestyles at the New Jersey Public State Team Tournament. Her highest finish came in the 200 free, where she clocked a personal best 1:53.98 for 10th place. Borges then went on to compete at the 2016 YMCA National Championships, where she swam a new persona best 57.89 in the 100 back.

Borges’ Top Times:

  • 100 back- 57.89
  • 200 back- 2:05.71
  • 400 IM- 4:37.39
  • 50 free- 24.77
  • 100 free- 53.08
  • 200 free- 1:53.98
  • 200 breast- 2:24.93

When she arrives at Binghamton, Borges should have an immediate impact for the team at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships. Her times in the 100 back, 200 back, and 400 IM are already fast enough to have scored in the B-final at the 2016 ECAC meet. In the 100 back, shes within a half second of what it took to make the A-final.
