Two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Madison Coughlen has verbally committed to swim for the University of Nebraska in 2017-18.

Coughlen spent the first two years of high school swimming for Fort Mill High School in South Carolina, where she was MVP. In the 2014 SCHSL Swimming 4A Championships, Coughlen was runner-up in the 200 free (1:52.52) and third in the 500 free (5:02.33). Her times were third and fourth, respectively overall in the SCHSL end-of-year rankings that season.
Coughlen now lives in Frisco, Texas. She swims for Texas Ford Aquatics and is a Junior Nationals qualifier in the 400 IM and 200 fly. Her best SCY times are:
- 400 IM – 4:19.74
- 200 IM – 2:04.06
- 200 fly – 2:01.18
- 100 fly – 56.45
- 1650 free – 17:23.77
- 1000 free – 10:14.04
- 500 free – 4:57.61
- 200 free – 1:52.19
Coughlen will head to Lincoln with the following verbal commits to the University of Nebraska’s class of 2021: Ali Kopas, Autumn Haebig, Clara Walstad, Izzie Murray, Jessica Pentlarge, Rachel Powers, and Sutton Marvin.
