Hans Kabelka to Remain In State; Verbally Commits to Cincinnati

Hans Kabelka (Johannes Kabelka in the USA Swimming database), a senior swimmer for the Ohio State Swim Club (OSSC) and St. Charles Preparatory School, has verbally committed to the University of Cincinnati for 2017-18.

“I can’t wait to be at UC! I love everything about it: the campus, the school, the coaching staff, and especially the team. It’s a great fit and I can’t see myself anywhere else. Go Bearcats!”

Kabelka is coming off an outstanding junior year, culminating in several bests at the 2016 Speedo Sectionals at Columbus. He achieved a Summer Juniors cut in the 200 free (1:54.28) and a Winter Juniors cut in the 50 free (24.17). He also anchored the OSSC 200 medley relay with a 23.44 split; that relay won Sectionals and finished second in the country in the 15-18 age category (1:45.51).

In high school swimming, Kabelka helped St. Charles Prep to a Central District team championship and third-place finish at the2016 Ohio Swimming Championships. He placed seventh in the 100 free and ninth in the 50 free at the state meet. His top times include:
