Breast/IMer Gabrielle Baratta Verbally Commits to Nebraska

Gabrielle Baratta, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Northern Valley Old Tappan High School in Old Tappan, New Jersey, has verbally committed to swim at the University of Nebraska in 2017-18.

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Nebraska.  I can’t wait to contribute to the team and am looking forward to the family atmosphere I felt on my trip.  Thank you to my parents, my family, friends and teammates for supporting me in this important decision.”

Baratta swims year-round with Scarlet Aquatics and specializes in breaststroke and IM. She finished fifth in the 100 breast at the 2016 NJSIAA Girls Swimming Meet of Champions, going 1:04.85. She was also a finalist in both the 100/200m breaststrokes at Buffalo Sectionals in March, and a finalist in the 200m breast at the Southern Zone Sectional meet in July, where she first made her Summer Juniors cut (2:38.69).

Her top times (SCY/LCM) are:

  • 100 breast – 1:04.74 / 1:13.84
  • 200 breast – 2:16.66 / 2:38.69
  • 200 IM – 2:08.06 / 2:28.32
  • 100 back – 59.40 / 1:08.37

Nebraska has gathered together a stellar class of 2021. In addition to Baratta, it will include verbal commits Ali Kopas, Autumn Haebig, Clara Walstad, Izzie Murray, Jessica Pentlarge, Madison Coughlen, Rachel Powers, and Sutton Marvin.
