The Penn State men will be keeping in-state talent Jacob Deckman in Pennsylvania next season, as he’s just given his verbal commitment to join the Nittany Lions in Fall 2017. Deckman, who trains club with the West Shore YMCA, will make the move to Penn State after graduating from Cumberland Valley High School at the end of this school year.
“Beyond excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Penn State University! #WEARE”
Last season, Deckman qualified to compete in the 100 free and 200 IM at the 2015 Pennsylvania AAA Boys State Championships. He cracked the top 10 at that meet, collecting a 9th place finish in the 200 IM. Deckman was also a 2016 PIAA District 3 champion after winning the 200 IM at districts with a personal best 1:51.76.

I watched Jacob go sub 22 in a HS dual meet on a Tuesday night – don’t think that’s his best 50 free time.
Congrats to all involved.
I’ll look into it, thanks. Sometimes high school meets don’t show up in USA Swimming database when I do a times search.
Great job Jacob keep up the good work….Penn State is lucky to get Jacob
