The South Dakota State women’s swimming and diving team defeated St. Cloud State, 178.5-119.5 on Friday at the Stanley J. Marshall Center.

Overall, the Jacks won a total of 13 events on the day.

The team of Kristin Erf, Richelle Bruyckere, Gabby Langerud and Cassie Hendricks finished first in the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:38.02.

In the 200 medley relay, Samantha Prasher, Erf, Alexandra Spinner and Ashley Theobald finished first for the second consecutive time this season in 1:47.14.

Senior Elizabeth Buchholz placed first in the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 10:49.35, while freshman Linda Lidstrom came in third in 11:02.25.

Bruyckere and Julia Bodnaruk finished first and second, respectively, in the 200 freestyle.

Erf came in first in the 100 breaststroke, for the third consecutive time this season, with a time of 1:05.16.

Spinner finished first in the 200 butterfly in 2:10.12, while Theobald won the 50 freestyle in 24.12.

Freshman Daniela Santillan captured a first place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:15.32, while Buchholz finished close behind in 5:17.01.

In diving, Rachel Haugen placed first in the 1-meter dive, for the first time this season, with a score of 212.10.

The St. Cloud State University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams ventured to NCAA Division I rival South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. on Friday, Nov. 4.  The Huskies fell to the Jackrabbits by a 178.5-119.5 score in the women’s dual and lost a 179-121 match to SDSU on the men’s side of competition.

The loss moves ther #15 ranked SCSU women’s team to 8-2 on the season, while the men’s team is now 1-5 in dual meet action this year.

SCSU’s men’s 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay teams both won first place at the dual, while Brian Burke placed first in the 50 free with a winning time of 21.57.  Other first place finishers for the men’s team included Triston Ferguson in the 100 free with a time of 47.41, Anthony Schwartz in the 200 backstroke at 1:55.21 and Brian Burke in the 100 butterfly at 51.94.

The women’s team was led by Britin Thomsen with a first place finish in the 3M diving event at 202.58.  Other first place finishers for the Huskies included Brooke Calvin in the 200 breaststroke at 2:26.36 and Jordan Fuse with a winning time of 59.68 in the 100 butterfly.

The Huskies will continue their 2016-17 season on Nov. 11-12 with a trip to the University of St. Thomas Invitational in St. Paul, Minn.  Action on Nov. 11 is slated to begin at 6 p.m. and at 9 a.m. on Nov. 12.
