CSU Bakersfield Locks Up Verbals from Alexandra Neilan and Lucy Peltz

Alexandra Neilan and Lucy Peltz have both recently made verbal commitments to California State University, Bakersfield for the 2017-18 season. Neilan is a fly/breast/IM specialist from Unionville, Virginia, while Peltz is a mid-distance and distance freestyler from Roseville, California.

Alexandra Neilan

“After my recruit trip, I knew that CSUB was the perfect place for me. I was immediately welcomed by the team and everyone seemed genuinely happy to have me there. The team puts in a lot of hard work, but I didn’t see a person without a smile on their face. The team had nothing but good things to say about the coaches and after talking with them I knew it was a perfect fit. Even though California is on the other side of the country from me, I immediately felt at home at CSUB!”

Neilan is a senior at Orange County High School in Orange, Virginia. She swam the 200 IM and 100 fly at the 2016 VHSL 5A State Meet last February, placing 10th in the 100 fly with 58.68. In club swimming she achieved all best times during her junior year while representing Regency Park Swim Team. Neilan wrapped up her long course season at the Virginia Long Course Senior Championships in July, where she went personal bests in the 100/200m breast, 100/200m fly, and 200m IM. Her SCY times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:06.92
  • 200 breast – 2:26.32
  • 100 fly – 57.53
  • 200 fly – 2:10.38
  • 200 IM – 2:10.94

Lucy Peltz

“I chose Bakersfield because the minute I met the team I felt welcome and I feel that I will be able to succeed both athletically and academically at CSUB. Go Runners!”

Peltz attends Rocklin High School and swims for California Capital Aquatics. She competed in the 200 free and 500 free at the 2016 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championships in May, placing 8th in the 500. She led off Rocklin’s 400 free relay and swam fly on the medley, as well. In club swimming Peltz concluded her summer season with best times in the 200/400m free and 100m fly at the California/Nevada Sectional Championships in Roseville. She also competed in the 800m free, finishing in 20th place and only .16 off her lifetime best. Her top SCY times are:

  • 200 free – 1:57.57
  • 500 free – 5:06.18
  • 1000 free – 10:29.15
  • 1650 free – 17:46.59
  • 200 fly – 2:11.16
