Jordan Mattern was on the first US Junior Olympic Team in 2010 and won a gold medal at the 2013 World Championships as a member of the 4×200 freestyle relay.
High School
Mattern is from Aurora, Colorado and graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 2011. She swam for the Colorado Stars Swim Team under Todd Schmitz. During her junior year of high school, she was apart of the national championship winning 800 freestyle at the 2010 nationals. That year, she was also a member of two (400 freestyle, 800 freestyle) National Age Group Record breaking relays.
College
Mattern attended the University of Georgia and was a member of the 800 freestyle relay that won at the NCAA Championships as a freshman. She also scored points individually with a 12th place finish in the 200 freestyle. As a sophomore, she finished 13th in both the 200 and 500 freestyles, and as a junior, she recorded an 8th place finish in the 200 freestyle.
2013
At the 2013 World Championship Trials in Indianapolis, IN, Mattern finished fourth in the 200 freestyle to earn her spot on the US World Championship Team. At the World Championships in Barcelona, she won a gold medal as a prelim swimmer for the 800 freestyle relay.
2014
At the Summer National Championships, Mattern advanced to the B-final heat of the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, and 200 backstroke.
